I was at the House of Blues in San Diego for a network meeting making my way through the restaurant. When all of a sudden I heard this note...it came from an electric guitar, and charged thru my soul...Hallelujah! (my attention was captured). My soul was swept away, and my troubles were drowned by the melodic sounds of blues music. Stoney B you gentlemen and lady I am a fan for life. Thank you for bringing some zest back into my life."

"You guys were smok'n baby!! ... once you kicked in with some Muddy Waters and Little Walter the crowd was hooked. I had so many people coming up to me saying "these guys are BAD ASS". I said "I know!! That's why I brought them in." I don't think people are going to be saying "Who is Stoney B?" anymore. I have a good ear when it come to music and you cats were off the hook..." The Stoney B Blues Band with Annette Da Bomb is the new blues experience that's got people talkin'...
Stoney B (Michael Stone) was born May 29th, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up listening to his father, Lil’ Howlin’ Wolf, playing the blues. Lil' Howlin' Wolf learnt his blues from the Chicago Blues Legend, Howling Wolf. Stoney B’s passion for the blues really took hold when he began teaching himself the bass guitar at the age of 13 and formed his first band at the age of 15 competing mostly in talent shows around Chicago, including one against the Jackson 5. Since then he has continued to fulfil his heart felt desire of bringing his blues music to audiences around the US.
During Stoney B's career he has played behind well known blues musicians such as Buddy Guy, James Cotton, Junior Wells, Koko Taylor, Johnny Guitar Embry and the Blues Kings, Son Thomas, Homesick James, Lavelle White, Lovie Lee, Roosevelt Boobie Barnes and Willie Mississippi Foster.
He has formed a number of Stoney B Blues Bands around the U.S, all with accomplished blues musicians. Stoney B played a gig with his father, Lil’ Howlin’ Wolf back in 1982. They have carved their own musical careers ever since but it is rumoured they will perform and record together some time in late 2012.
For 12 years he played in a well known partnership as a Street Musician, in the French Quarter of New Orleans, with Grandpa Elliott. Written up in the New York Times it was said, “They know that it is their blues, the sorrowful, beautiful, haunting sound of bending guitar strings and weeping harmonica, that draws the tourists to them … but it is the show that makes the tourists stay.” Grandpa Elliott Small (Grampa) and Stoney B recorded 3 CDs together: French Quarter Style, Blues for Days and Sea of Love.
In 2010, Stoney B, with 43 years of experience, has become a highly accomplished guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and recording artist of the Blues. He is noted for his dynamic vocals and soulful guitar. Stoney B not only has lots of talent but that wonderful gift of communication which grabs people’s attention as he brings them into a truly enjoyable, masterful and often humorous experience as he entertains them with the Down Home Blues. He feels and shares at a soulful level the essence of the Chicago and Southern old school blues with strong influences from Muddy Waters, BB King and Jimmy Reed.
In June 2010 he has formed the new Stoney B Blues Band in San Diego, California.
If you are looking for a Blues Band of great entertainers made up of excellent Blues Musicians this is the band for you.
Blues lovers in San Diego have come to realize just who Stoney B Blues is:
A blue blood musician? For sure.
An entertainer and crowd pleaser? Most definitely.
A talented ambassador of the Down Home Blues? Without question.
